Dog Racing on the Line

Sunday July 6, 2008
Dog advocates in Massachusetts are trying to end greyhound racing in their state. The Committee to Protect Dogs has apparently gathered enough signatures to get The Greyhound Protection Act on the ballot. If passed, the Act would end greyhound racing in the state by 2010. The measure will be decided by a state-wide vote in November of 2008.

The group's website details the cruelty, deaths and injuries involved in dog racing. Another group that supports the measure, Grey2K USA, explains how unprofitable dogs are killed or sometimes even sold to laboratories.
