October 2: World Farm Animals Day

Tuesday September 16, 2008

World Farm Animals Day is coming up on October 2, which is Mahatma Gandhi's birthday. It is a day of mourning and remembrance, for all of the animals who are imprisoned, tortured and slaughtered because of society's demand for meat. Activists commemorate the day with protests, vigils and information tables to remind the public of the sentient beings behind their bacon double cheeseburgers.

If you are interested in holding an event, you should start planning now so that you have enough time to publicize the event and secure any permits or room reservations that you need. The WFAD website has a lot of information on factory farming and detailed tips on holding events. You can even register your event so that other activists can find you, and request free posters and literature for your event.
