McCain's VP Pick, Sarah Palin, No Friend to Animals

John McCain has just announced his choice for the Republican VP slot: Alaska Governor Sarah Palin, who is no friend to animals. In 2007, Palin announced a $150 bounty for wolves. Why? Because wolves prey on moose and caribou, two favorite targets for hunters in Alaska. So Palin instituted a program to encourage hunters to kill wolves so that there would be more moose and caribou for hunters to kill. A lawsuit by Defenders of Wildlife resulted in the Alaska Superior Court ruling that the state Department of Fish and Game did not have the authority to institute a bounty program. A state program to shoot wolves and bears from the air continues, and on August 26, 2008, Ballot Measure 2, which would have stopped the aerial gunning of predators, was defeated by state voters.

Palin is also a hunter and a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association.

In addition, Palin has sued the Bush administration to delist polar bears under the Endangered Species Act because the protection of polar bears interferes with drilling for oil and gas. Palin even penned an op-ed for the New York Times, explaining her scientific arguments against protecting polar bears. Isn't it funny how her op-ed doesn't mention drilling for oil?

Needless to say, from an animal rights standpoint, Sarah Palin would be a disastrous VP.

Thank you for providing this information, Doris. When news like this breaks, everybody gets caught up in all the bright and shiny details of a candidate’s background, and it’s not ’til much later that the real facts come out.

For voters passionate about animal rights and animal welfare, this is essential information that you’ve provided right out of the starting gate. I know I wouldn’t have had the resources or the know-how to find all this out.

(2) Charlotte Laws says:

I am also disturbed by Sarah Palin’s apparent lack of regard for animals. The only bright light I can offer is this: if Palin breaks the glass ceiling, it will pave the way for other women to make it to the highest office; and women, in general, tend to be more compassionate towards animals than males. Unfortunately, Obama does not seem to have a strong record on animals; he seems to have no record (I assume he supported the Animal Enterprise Terrorism Act). Biden has an excellent record on animal issues.

Perhaps looking at Palin as “paving the way for future compassionate women” can reassure those animal activists who wish to vote for McCain (who happens to be a strong environmentalist).

(3) Tracy says:

McCain is NOT a strong environmentalist. He supports offshore drilling, and Palin supports both offshore drilling and drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge.

As I say in my blog regarding Palin, I’d love to see a woman break through to a high office, but it can’t be just any woman. It has to be a woman who shares my beliefs. And Palin, who clearly doesn’t care about the lives of animals, is not that woman.

Thank the lord we have someone who values HUMAN beings more than animals. Whoopee!!!!!

(5) Charlotte Laws says:

I disagree with you about McCain on environmentalism. He as a record of going against his party on this issue. This shows he is passionate, and when passionate, a politician is likely to put effort into the cause. In addition, the Congress is predominantly Democratic. McCain can work with Democrats on these issues, plus get some Republicans to go along (some will simply go along to agree with the President), then McCain can sign things into law.

I searched for an hour today on the Senate bill website and could not find any environmental bills Obama supported except one on alternative energy for cars. I could find no animal bills he supported. If I am missing something, please let me know. There simply does not seem to be any reason to think Obama is passionate about the environment or animals.

I understand he wants to get a dog, has there been any mention about adopting a homeless shelter animal? I heard the breeders trying to decide what purebreed he should buy.

As for animals, no one except Kucinich is really supportive. I heard Kucinich was the only member of Congress to vote against the Animal Enterprise Terrorism Act. I assume Obama, Biden and McCain supported it.

She would be terrible for people AND animals. She is completely ignorant of most major issues plus her total lack of sensitivity about hunting plus her global warming denial makes her dangerous for everyone. Imagine if she was president if McCain died? I would expect mass habitat destruction all across the country.

Hi Charlotte,

Obama is indeed for animals. Check out: http://www.time.com/time/politics/article/0,8599,1704179,00.html

Also, pick up a copy of ‘A Rare Breed of Love’ by Jana Kohl. She adopted a little dog rescued from a puppy mill, and took her all across the country to be photographed with many famous animal lovers, included Barack Obama. He writes a little vignette next to his picture in that book.

He voted against horse slaughter in Illinois.

Hope that helps. Go Obama/Biden!!!

(8) Neta says:

What a shame, this mother has no compassion for the animals of her state. Furthermore, she will fit in perfectly with Republicans and Democrats, alike, who support animal cruelty in industrial and institutional animal abusive enterprises. Government has betrayed the creatures of our nation/world – without a thought to the vile and brutality of all these government funded legal animal cruelty institutions. Disgusting…Speak up for the animals, our elected representatives WONT for sure.

(9) Frugivore says:

Palin kills moose, eviscerates them herself, has put a bounty
on wolf hunting, supports aerial hunting of wolves by trophy
seekers, calls herself a free market capitalist while giving
state money to support cattle concentration camps, has sued
to have polar bears removed from the endangered species list,
cancelled a wind farm project from the budget while putting
in a half billion for oil companies, etc.

August 30, 2008 at 12:04 pm
(10) Neta says:

Belle #4 – What do you mean, AT LAST. Government, elected officials, representatives fund legalized animal abuse, murder and terror, and have forever. The humans you worship are the animal abusers. What a stupid comment, but not surprising from you animal haters who can only stand up for one thing at a time. Humans are a bad choice. Look and see the proof.

August 30, 2008 at 3:33 pm
(11) Gary says:

My first thought, as soon as I heard of Gov. Palin’s predilection for hunting moose, is “McCain picks animal killer for VP.” Her environmental record is atrocious and her attitude toward animals is disgustingly callous.

Belle 66 – This is not a question of “who do we save in the lifeboat, the animal or the human.” We’re talking about gratuitous killing of animals, and appalling disregard for not only for animals’ interests but for the environment on which we all depend.

As Neta points out, there is nothing new about Palin’s policies. Ten billion animals a year live in horrendous factory farms, we’re destroying unprecedented numbers of species as we cut down the rain forest for cattle grazing and feed, fish populations are down, and marine animal protection laws are being rolled back because of the power of multinational corporations in the World Trade Organization. I would exclaim “At last!” if a presidential or VP candidate at least spoke out against puppy mills.

(12) Sukhmandir Kaur says:

Sara Palin (and tall;), A snow jb if I’ve ever seen one She is everything the corporate republican politcal party could want. A pretty puppet holding the key to an oil reserve. I wonder which other rich republicans are the polar bear and moose trophy hunters? She’s liable to break more than the glass ceiling, if she gets the opportunity. Qualifications count for so much more than gender. Do you realize just this year alone how many people have lost their only homes? And who do you suppose is buying them up? If our economy continues on in the same vein how many more stand to lose everything they work hard for in the next 4 years. How can we expect animal rights from people who haven’t the mentality to insist on their own human rights?

(13) Deb says:

I’m with Obama all the way, and proud to be. I hadn’t heard these things about Palin, so I’m glad you wrote about them, Doris. Very disturbing indeed. These are the kinds of things people should know before voting.

(15) Laura says:

Anyone who has some basic education in psychology knows that taking sadistic pleasure to hunt and kill poor helpless animals shows a sociopathic personality disorder. There is no enjoyment to see any beings suffering. It shows a lack of empathy, no guilt, no remorse. The prisons are filled with those type of personality. Unfortunatly, some deviant human beings have taken power in the past(like Adolph Hitler). She is a very wrong example to our young children. Research and data shows that most of killers and criminals have a history of violence and abuse toward animals. Those are numbers and facts. People need to get educated not to preach violence. She is the wrong person to lead this country.

(16) christine gregorat says:

Charlotte, how sad that a) your research is so minimal on Obama/Biden ticket regarding animal welfare that you speak before you know the facts. b) even worse, you compare finding no support for animals to the ongoing inhumane and cruel slaughter of wolves and their babies, all for the “big boys” that hunt for profit. Shame on you.

September 1, 2008 at 2:36 pm
(17) Terri says:

McCain lost my vote when he elected Sarah Palin as his vice president. He could not have picked a worse candidate for animal welfare. She obviously has no compassion whatsoever for animals and even appears to enjoy the torture and suffering of these innocent creatures. It is beyond me how anyone could get enjoyment out of seeing any living being suffer, especially the ones that can not fend for themselves. I am still in disbelief that McCain could have made such a choice, considering that he has voted favorable towards animal issues in the past. With Palin as his counterpart, the poor animals won’t stand a chance. I believe it is imperative for all people that care about animal welfare to be informed of Palin’s character because if they are, it will swing alot of votes just as it has mine.

(18) Lile says:

When I was 10 years old my dad took me deer hunting with him. He didn’t spend much time with me so I went fishing or bird hunting with him whenever I could. It was a beautiful fall day and we saw a young beautiful buck in a clearing. My dad raised his gun and shot. The deer fell to the ground. We walked up to it and it was still alive. It was making a faint bleating sound, obviously in horrible pain. It looked up at us standing over it. It has been 30 years and I will never forget the pain and fear in its eyes. My dad told me to stay away but I bent down and touched it. I guess I thought I could comfort it as it lay dying. It felt warm and I could see the gaping wound on its body. My dad told me to walk away and turn my back and he shot it once again. I was inconsolable. I cried for days. All I wanted to do was sit on the swing in our back yard with my little dog Pete by my side. I refused to speak to anyone. Finally my dad came out to talk to me. He was a religious man, a deacon in the Baptist church. I asked him if God meant animals too when he said “Thou shalt not kill”? He told me that he was sorry for what he did. He promised me that he would never kill an animal again and he never did. When I saw a photo of Sarah Palin holding up a dead moose with her little girl looking on I thought of me and my dad. I have to wonder how someone could enjoy killing an innocent animal and having her little daughter as a witness. For that and many other reasons, I will not vote for John McCain and Sarah Palin.

(19) kim says:

Just shows what poor decisions McCain would make if president. At 72, McCain is quite old and maybe not in the best health. God forbid this woman had to step in. She’s got enough going on in her own life with 5 kids and now a grandkid on the way who will probably need her help. She’s too busy for this office. She’s still having babies herself. It was a really poor choice!

September 3, 2008 at 7:53 am
(20) Carole says:

In a sad sort of way, I am glad McCain made this choice. Defenders of Wildlife frequently send me seemingly unbelievable stories about wolf hunting in AK. I send in donations but until now did not realize just how bad this situation is and who is behind it.

I do transport work for dog rescue groups and totally support wolf rights activists who rarely get good publicity. Now the whole sordid mess is front and center in the news media. With world wide awareness perhaps animal cruelty in AK can finally be exposed and put down. I feel that McCain is committing political suicide by choosing Sarah and sincerely hope that wolves and polar bears come out as winners here!

September 3, 2008 at 2:49 pm
(21) Luke says:

I think its rather unbelievable how quickly all of you who read this simply believe it. Why don’t you read this article in reference to Palin’s support for aerial killings of wolves and bears: http://newsminer.com/news/2008/jul/19/biologists-kill-wolf-pups-help-caribou-herd-popula/

The killings are conducted by biologists so they can stimulte the numbers of caribou because the population statistics dropped dangerously low. If Palin has some unsaid alterior motive for supporting this decision so that there is more game to hunt, then that is her conviction. But I think it is extremely simple minded and ignorant to simply believe that just because she is a hunter the only reason she would be in support of this is for her own and her fellow hunter’s recreation.

I’m not in support of the GOP’s nominee nor his decision of running mate, but I do like to educate myself on every little avenue of what they might be up to. Don’t simply believe everything you read and hear, question it all, and you’ll find out there are many truths in the equation. Even question what I write, its ridiculous of you to just simply believe a blog and the links they direct you to.

(22) Dove says:

She is not fit to lick the soles of Hillary Clinton, who has more knowledge, experience, and genuine concern for this nation, our people, and the planet, than this woman who seems to have a psychological need to prove how tough she can be.

As well, she chose to be a mother, have the number of children she has brought into the world, just gave birth to a baby with Downs syndrome, and is abandoning all for political ambition.

Inner strength can be defined by common sense, compassion, and empathy for people and the world around you. Sarah Palin possesses none of these attributes.

Any woman who would support Sarah Palin defiles the reputation of women, like Hillary Clinton, and those who came before her. Sarah Palin’s attitude toward women’s rights, her corporate zeal and ties to the oil cartels, plus lack of foreign relations knowledge, as well as experience, may her a very poor choice for the VP position.

She was, purely, a political choice, for McCain and a very bad one.

Luke, there is such a thing as “relocation.”

Why would Palin put $150 BOUNTY HEAD on wolves if it’s not a “game” for her? Killing off these innocent animals who are only living on instincts are barbaric.

(26) sherry says:

I had intended to vote for McCain, not because I feel he is the best man for the job, but because I felt he was the lesser of 2 evils. Now I probably won’t vote at all – I can’t vote for McCain given this choice of VP. Why? 1) Anyone who has 5 children with the state the world is currently in, is either too stupid to comprehend the limited capacity of the world’s resources or too greedy to care. 2) Anyone who advocates chasing wolves to the point of exhaustion with a helicopter and then shooting them, really should have to experience that herself.

We will eventually be judged by the way we treat both the disadvantaged of our society and the animals who depend on us. We have failed miserably on both counts.

September 4, 2008 at 3:29 pm
(27) Annie says:

I’ve just written a letter to John McCain. Frankly, I am heartsick. I am a strong supporter of animal welfare and the environment and I am also a McCain supporter. I’ve long ago realized that its tough to find a candidate who goes along with my values lockstep. I thought I had come close with John McCain. But now this. Palin could have been indifferent to animal welfare and I would have lived with it. But clearly, she is downright hostile towards these issues. I can live with hunting (though it sickens me) but I certainly don’t want to hear the braggadacio. Palin clearly has alot to offer but her stance on “pro-life” is hardly that. To think a mass of unviable cells evokes her passion but to think it then doesn’t occur to her that any living creature is child of God and worthy of mercy shows a huge disconnect. She is not alone in this but I was hoping someone younger than the previous mindsets would see the light. I was sorely wrong. I am heartsick. Pro-life indeed. Not if you have four legs apparently.

September 4, 2008 at 4:52 pm
(28) Deborah says:

Well, now I really don’t know who is the worst of the two evils. I don’t like Obama as I heard him in an interview referring to his grandmother as “a typical white person” and now this with the McCain VP. How can she live with herself? I just don’t think I am going to vote AT ALL! Are there any petitions I can sign to help the polar bears and to campaign against shooting animals from the air? Unbelievable!

(29) rutro says:

Sarah has split the people it seems. I like McCain, and liked everything that Palin had to say during the convention. BUT…… I absolutely cannot support ANYONE who thinks animals are here for such heartless acts.

I am sitting out this vote.

(30) www.chatterbox-cafe.com says:

So Ms. Palin believes it NOT ok to abort a child even if you are a rape victim, in an abusive relationship or can’t afford to cloth and feed another child but IT IS ok to kill an animal in its natural environment and make moose stew out of it. And she’s proud of it! Where is the morality of the Republican party?

(31) Matt says:

Eeryone that read this article is vry nieve to the fact that Bears and Wolves can be very dangerous to anyone.IN Alaska alone there are probably more then half of the population of Bears and Wolves then there are people so wouldnt you think that killing these animals would help keep Alaska safe? This website is also clearly just bringing up dirt on Sarah Palin and the Republican Party and I think that This coutry will be in Crisis if Barrack Obama is president for many reasons for one this man has the chance of being assasinated only becasue of his race, this would bring the racism rate wy up! I personaly have nothing against Obama but I think this country would go down quickly if he was president.

(34) Jo Singer says:

I am horrified by Gov. Palin’s stance of support of hunting polar bears, no matter how it is done. Presently the natural balance of wildlife is at extreme risk. Her support of shooting polar bears and bears from planes, to cull the population so that moose hunters can have their go with these amazing animals, shows how strongly she supports the NRA. She also supports drilling for oil which will further destructively impact the environment necessary for Polar Bears and other animals to survive.

Nature needs to be trusted to know far better than we do to keep the balance in check. Messing with the environment with methods that have been proven not to be effective in providing sustainable energy will only serve to destroy the beauty which has been bestowed upon us with the hope of our treating it wisely.

Sarah Palin’s record in regard to the environment and animal/ wildlife protection is indeed frightening. I am amazed that John McCain, who professes to be a wild-life and animal welfare rights supporter would flip flop and chose someone as his running mate who is diametrically opposed to what he has professed in the past. He could have chosen a woman vp as a running mate in order to capture disgruntled Clinton supporters, who matches his alledged regard for all animal life.

I am worried… very worried.

Nice. I see you people care more for animal rights than people rights. That’s really stupid. Humans are supposed to have lordship over animals! It’s clear to me now. Let’s vote in a guy who doesn’t know what the hell he’s talking about and forget about human rights because Sara Palin hunts animals like humans did for thousands of years to survive. You are idiots.

September 7, 2008 at 8:11 am
(37) grassfox says:

Oh, boo hoo. Animals are killed by people. Hello! Go to the grocery store! Any grocery store is full of dead animals. This is so people can buy them in some unrecognizable form and don’t have to face the animal they want to eat. At least hunters have the courage and decency to face the animal they are going to kill and eat. Here in New Jersey the animal rights groups want to kill a dog for killing a bear cub that came into the dog’s yard. Kill a dog? How awful? If a bear kills a child the animal rights groups say that the bear thought it was food because the baby had spilled milk and soiled diapers and blame the parents(look up the baby that was killed in NY State). As for the polar bears – nobody saved the dinosaurs. Hey, with the new genetics discoveries maybe we can clone a t-rex and repopulate them. After all, t-rex was here before we were. Let’s focus more on human rights instead of these bogus “animal rights”.

Killing animals for sport, as Palin does with great enthusiasm, is inexcusable. I have taught my children to respect life. All life. It’s horrifying to me that she can, not just as a woman, but a mother, encourage the slaughter of gods creatures for fun. I do not want someone like this being in a position of power. I want people with a love for life, not guns and death, to guide this Country.

(47) Larry says:

To all you folks who are PETA (most of you misspell this, since you don’t cap it all; another demonstration of your…well, you fill in the blank.) members:

You are, absolutely and unequivocally, dangerous.

The absurdity of your irrational, nonsensical, utterly juvenile approach to rationality and thought is frightening.

Are you prepared to protect “animals” from other “animals” (not just from the human animal)? If not, why is it ok for a lion to eat a wildebeest, but not a human to kill one? If not, why is it ok for a bird to eat a worm? Shouldn’t you be out protesting the robins in spring? Shouldn’t you be asking for jail time for all those vicious tuna out there that eat mackerel for breakfast?

The lunacy of your ideas, and the idiocy of your beliefs, were they not so dangerous, would be hilarious.

Shame on all of you, as how the worst in humankind is exemplified.

(48) grassfox says:

Larry, Loved your comment. However, it was not entirely correct. As I have already pointed out – a dog killed a bear cub that wandered into its yard in Lafayette, New Jersey this summer and the animal rights groups want to kill the dog and fine the dog’s owner $2000.00 and put her in jail for 2 years. So even these so called animal lovers want to kill animals. No one has even suggested that the dog could undergo rehab treatment and retraining – just KILL IT! It seems that bears (and cockroaches) have more rights than humans or even dogs!

(49) Anita says:

I have a 20 mile drive to work. In the my first 2 years drive I have watched them put up put up a wharehouse park, 2 new dept. stores,a new grocery store, condos,a strip mall, and a subdivision. (All this in such a bad economy)
Now in my third year of driving this 20 miles I’ve had to drive though construction all summer so the road could be widened into a 5 lane highway. Also so more stores can be built.
I’ve never seen or heard anyone do or say anything about all the animals that are being driven out.
Of course I do see alot of road kill, including 3 deer this year.

We destroy more animals here in our own backyard for no more reason than progress and our own comfort. Of course it’s good for the local economy too.
And people here want to tell Alaska how to live? What they can build and can’t build. Drilling for oil should be thier decision. We don’t ask Alaska if its ok to sell off
good farm land or cut down a grove of trees to put in a mall.

I know there are a lot of animal lovers in New York City or even L.A.. I don’t see alot of wildlife roaming the streets there. If wolves were roaming the streets of these cities they would be killing and eating your little cats and dogs. I’m sure you would then want to control them then.

You want to point the finger at someone who shoots an animal with a rifle quickly then guts it so they then can take it home and eat it. What make the difference if it is done by a hunter or a meat packing plant? Not all,but most humans eat meat. Get over it. And because people eat meat doesn’t mean they
hate animals.

You also need to do some studying on wildlife conservation.
We had a problem here in Columbus with a place call Sharon Woods. A woods surrounded by subdivisions. So the deer couldn’t be hunted. Well great for animal rights activist but the deer became inbred and also began to starve due to overpopulation. All the small mammmals, reptiles, even insects including butterflies disappeared. The deer were down to eating the bark off the trees.
It is under control now due to HUNTING and some relocation. But they are still working on bringing the plant and animal life back from where it was.
By the way I’ve never hunted. But I
would have no problem in eating deer or caribou killed by a hunter. I also enjoy eating a hamburger from McDonalds or a t-bone bought from the local grocer. Same thing.

(50) Sarazen says:

As someone who recently moved from Alaska, it seems to me that there many in the lower 48 don’t really appreciate how it works. Suffice to say that it is a state almost as big as 1/3 of the rest of the US. There are tons of bears and wolves, both of which really do attack and kill people from time to time. And it gets so cold and windy in some parts of the state, fur is not a fashion statement, it is the best protection from almost instant frostbite. There is also a large native population that is very vocal about maintaining their traditions, like hunting polar bears and whales.

Many are gonna be quick to judge, but there are some good reasons to dig deeper before you write her off. Alaskans know well how much their lives depend on the health of the land and sea around them. So while this list may seem extreme to those who have never lived there, bear in mind there is a lot more to Alaska than meets the eye.

For most of you who are leaving comments, I am so relieved that people are finally becoming aware of Sarah Palin’s appalling stand on aerial wolf hunting. The more that you research it, the worse it gets. The bounty she offered for the left foreleg of each wolf killed, the bill she passed to make the killing easier, the pictures of some of these hunters holding up the bloodied bodies of the wolves they’ve killed, and smiling so proudly,as if they’d just done something to be proud of. It sickens and disgusts me, as does Mrs. Palin. These are nothing but thrill killers, and they so far , at least, have just been allowed to get away with it. And for the few who are leaving the comments in defense of the killing, I can’t even comprehend your stupidity, or your lack of heart. The lip-sticked pitbull is nothing but a wolf killer. I’d like to see the television ad that Defenders of Wildlife has made shown in every state, so that everyone knows what she really is before they cast their vote.Everyone that can should support this ad financially . Not much time left until the election, and I think a lot of people will change their mind about voting for her if they watched the video.

Hunting is a sick and disgusting hobby. People who enjoy killing innocent animals for sport are sociopathic. The photo that is repeatedly shown of her and her child next to a bleeding, dying animal sickens me to no end. And the Republicans show it proudly. The party of God. Right. Try again.

I heard this quote many years ago and I think it came from Abe Lincoln (not sure), but I’ve found it to be true. “You can tell a lot about a person by the way he treats his animals.” What type of person has no qualms about offering a bounty for a bloody limb from a dead animal? I find this a repulsive trait and an indication of what Palin is all about.

I say to belle 66 (or do you mean 666, mark of the beast), I hope you never get struck blind and have to depend on a seeing eye dog. I volunteer at a local animal shelter and sees countless dogs with eyes poked out and legs crushed by these humans you value. Dozens of dogs come into the shelter every week because HUMANs can’t simply spay and neuter their animals; most of them end up euthanized. Drill drill drill, belle 666s of the world say. Drill land. Drill each other and overpopulate this world. Drill the land and kill the animals. You would love that wouldn’t you, belle666. Livin’ the Soylent Green lifestyle (oh imdb that if it is above your sorry head) Ah, that’d be just peachy wouldn’t it. Animals deserve RESPECT NOW. RIGHT EFFIN NOW!!!

(58) Willowisp says:

I aboslutely love animals, however I am also a FEMALE hunter. I do eat what I shoot. The deer in our area cost us $15-20,000 per year in crop damage, just on my farm alone. So that tells me they are overpopulated. There has to be some type of controll over the population of animals. I happened to be in Washington DC when some so called animal rights activists were there. I laughed when I saw how many of them had either leather shoes, belts, pocket books or other items made out of animals. I say Go Sarah Palin. Big deal she hunts. Get over it and stick with the real issues of an election.

September 22, 2008 at 4:45 am
(59) Lin says:

Willowisp, how can you defend Palin and the way she “hunts?” I certainly hope you do not hunt the cruel, vicious way she does. Palin is cold, uncaring, and she hates animals. If she becomes our vice president, this country won’t HAVE any wild animals for future generations to appreciate. Palin is horrendous beyond belief. I am a Republican, and I will NOT be voting for such a destructive, vile person.

(60) mary says:

the issue isn’t about whether Sarah hunts. Its about her sanctioning a wolf hunt. These wolves are chased by low flying airplanes. Some die long and slow deaths. Many are just literally ran to death. That she would approve of such cruelty says a lot about her LACK of character. You can stand behind your PRO LIFE of the unborn stance all you want but if you behave as such a wantan sh*t (edited by About.com moderator) to animals she isn’t living by what she preaches. Not even mentioning what a ‘post turtle’ she is. (its like someone putting a turtle on a fence post. The poor turtle don’t know which way to go, what to do, and you got to wonder about the idiot who put the turtle there in the lst place!

All you so-called Liberla hyprocrites are a bunch of quacks. While, you go around protecting animal rights (which I do as well) you go around destroying our children. Starting with the hyprocritacl “woman right to choose” myth. At the end of the day you are still killing a human baby. Then you support lawyers in office which are illegally in all three branches of goverment, voiding any true “separation of powers” nor “checks and balances” in goverment. Which in turn prommote and execute our children with thier “no-fault divorce” courts rendering over 70% of all children fatherless, exposing them to a multitude of social and emotional truama for life. All while hiding behind the skirts of women & children’s rights and of course animal rights. Since the phoney woman’s movement that the Rockefelars and CIA promoted just to get 50% of the work force to pay taxes and get our babies earlier into thier goverment brainwashing system called schools our children have faired mcuh worst than our animals. And I’m a animal lover myself but please get a grip and lets straighted our priorities.

YET, THE MORE I LEARN OF HOW MUCH THESE ANIMALS NEED SOMEONE TO DEFEND THEM AGAINST SUCH A COLD HEARTED PERSON , THE MORE I REALIZE I SHOULD BE AN ANIMAL RIGHTS ACTIVIST.

(66) JacerG says:

I hope everyone considering voting for this ticket, takes a good long look at Sarah Palin.

Her total lack of compassion regarding animals, is extremely disturbing and speaks volumes about her character. She is also arrogant and defiant. She is clueless about foreign policy, reading materials, Supreme Court decisions and has an obvious lack of knowledge regarding the English language. And to think her father was a teacher?

She says one thing, and does the complete opposite. Her bridge and road to nowhere, her foreign policy experience, her refusal to answer questions, her refusal to submit to a subpoena, should be red flags to Americans and the world.

Her winking, shout-outs, Joe six-packs and say it aint so-isms, are an insult to intelligent women everywhere.

After 8 years of George Bush, our country is in dire straits. I can not imagine what 4 more years of the likes of Sarah Palin and McCain, or “McPain” will do to this nation.

IF you guys think Obama has no record on animal rights.
Sarah Palin has NO record on doing anything about the fact that Alaska has 6 times the National average of child sex abuse and rape.
She has used 400.000 to advocate for the aerial hunting of animals but has done NOT a thing about the fact that Alaska has a big rape problem.
Ok she did do one thing as mayor she condone charging victims of rape for their rape kits.

It’s not like a wolf, a moose, a feral cat or a dog can get a job at Kroger. DOH! Nor can they buy a bullet proof vest or run from a whack job like SARA PALIN who is shooting them from a helicopter.

May all of the words that hurt others express themself to you. No harm to you, just wake up and join the race of living beings. Then the healing of all of us to you could start.
