Summer is Conference Season

Animal rights conferences are a great way to learn more about issues, network with other activists, and develop skills and strategies. At least three conferences are coming up this summer:

• Let Live NW Animal Rights Conference, June 27-30, Portland, Oregon. Sponsored by Vegans for Animal Advocacy. Suggested donation is only $10. Updates are posted on their MySpace blog.


• Taking Action for Animals, July 19-21, in Arlington, Virginia. Sponsored by The Humane Society of the US. TAFA offers scholarships for students. The deadline for scholarship applications is June 30.


• Animal Rights 2008 National Conference, August 14-18, Washington, DC. Sponsoring organizations include Farm Animal Reform Movement, In Defense of Animals, and Sea Shepherd. Save on registration by joining the conference staff or applying for a low-income discount.
